Question by GSFKNR: Buying a single family home, what about Personal Property Reimbursement empty (home insurance field)???
Guys,
I need your help. I am in CA and will be closing on my house in 30 days. I understand that home insurance is a requirement. I am thinking of going with Allstate as my car with insured with them as well.
The question that I have is that the quote they gave me doesn’t an amount for the “personal property reimbursement”. But when I got a quote with Farmers, I did get one (200k). I have asked the Allstate agent and am told that this is normal, but I am still covered.
Any ideas on what this means? I am very confused about what to do and want to be sure that 100% covered.

Personal property reimbursement is also called “replacement cost coverage” (as opposed to actual cash value), and may be listed as such on your policy. It will reimburse you for covered personal property with new items of like quality.
Most companies charge extra for RCC.

Question by 360mommy: Family health insurance plan or individual health insurance plans for each person?
I am quoting health coverage in Kansas for my family since we do not get this from an employer. My agent suggested that each family member have a separate insurance plan instead of one family plan to cut costs. I have never heard of doing this? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks

I have never heard of that either. Typically you will pay less as a family.
Maybe the agent means everyone get their own and pay for their own.

Question by Witherman: Family Health insurance for pregnant women?
Hello. I am planning in the near future to have children with my wife. I have health insurance coverage through my job but I am unsure of the stability of the work so I am deciding to have a plan on the side just in case. I would like to know any suggestions about which company/plan/ route anything you want to call it to go for having Family health care especially for a pregnant woman and youngsters. Having two plans is a waste of money. Unless you’re planning on leaving in the next 60 days it likely doesn’t make sense to pick up a second plan. There are reasons to do so, but ask your insurance broker and not a bunch of strangers online.

I am shopping for home insurance and all of the above came in at about the same rates and i can’t decide. Any advice? Farmers and Amercan Family is through the company’s agent. American Modern is through a broker.

Have an independent insurance agent get quotes with different companies. You should be able to do better than American Family and Farmers, depending on your region. I am not familiar with American Modern Group. The independent agent can do the legwork for you, but Travelers beat the pants off of American Family for home and auto for me, and don’t rule out the local mutual companies.
